Our earliest known Baumann ancestor is Anton Baumann born about 1710 in the village of Dahlunden, Alsace. Unfortunately, it is unknown from where the Baumann family originated before arriving in Dahlunden.
The Baumann family did not remain in the village of Dahlunden for a very long period as in 1795 they are found to be living in the village of Sessenheim, Alsace.
Anton’s son Jacob died at a young age; his widow and daughters immigrated to the Kutschurgan village of Kandel in 1808.
