OUR GERMANN ANCESTORS

Our earliest known Germann ancestor is Johannes Jacob Germann born about 1650 in the village of Munchweiler, Pfalz, Germany. In the late 1600s the Germann family moved to the neighboring village of Meisenheim, Germany. The Germann family remained in the village of Meisenheim until 1809 when they immigrated to the Kutschurgan village of Elsass, Russia.

While living in Russia, the extended Germann family primarily resided in the Kutschurgan village of Elsass.

The use of the name Ge(h)rmann and its variants date back to the mid-thirteenth century.
